How would you know if the FIFO lifestyle suits you?

1. How do you feel about flying to work?

As a FIFO worker, you will spend a lot of time on chartered flights flying you to and from your work base and home as per your roster.


2. Are you able to restrict your daily activities to a routine schedule?

Essentially, your days will we be regimented consisting of early morning rises followed by up to a 12-hour shift. A typical roster 'swing' could be up to 21-days ON with an RDO incorporated on-site followed by 7 days OFF RNR off-site.


3. Are you able to leave your family and friends behind for a period of 3 weeks?

This is probably the most challenging part of your job, especially for those who have young children. You will be unable to spend time with your loved ones for up to 3 weeks until you get back home to enjoy your RNR days off to spend quality time with them.


4. Are you able to get by your daily work routine without all the comforts of home and your current social life?

Generally, there are limited options for entertainment or social activities, however, you can always enjoy a drink with your work colleagues at the wet mess.

There is usually a gym and some camps even provide basketball, football, tennis depending on the individual camp you are staying at.


5. Would you like to give yourself the opportunity to reach your financial goals quicker?

The biggest drawcard for working FIFO is of course financial reward. Not only do you earn a high remuneration, you also have all flights, accommodation and meals provided included in your contract enabling you to save even more money.
